Calcutta Gears Private Limited was established in 1982 near the bank of the Hooghly river in Howrah, the twin city of Kolkata, which is the capital of the state of West Bengal, India. Its journey started with the manufacturing of gears and gearboxes, Special purpose machines, import substitution products, etc.
In 1992, it diversified into the machining of railway wheels and axles. Presently, it is the leading national producer of machined wheels and axles, supplying to the country's top public sector companies.
The company established a Forging Press Division in 2020, considering the demand for Asymmetric rail end forging in the country with the national motto of "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat". We are proud to announce that the company has successfully designed and developed an international patent-pending Press with a unique forging process.The other few Presses available in the country are imported .By this, we have been successful in producing the quite challenging Asymmetric Rail end forging for Indian Railways with almost zero defect. This is the first Press to be built entirely in India. The company is poised to brand itself as a world-class manufacturer of the Asymmetric Rail End forging press and also as a capable conversion agent of these rails. Currently, the company is involved in collaborative dialogues with various rail switch manufacturers, and full-swing production is expected to advance in the subsequent quarter.

Asymmetric Rail End Forging
Asymmetric Rail End Forging We proudly announce that we have successfully designed and developed an Asymmetric Rail End forging press which will cater to the requirements of Indian Railways. This is the first Press that is completely designed and manufactured in India with no Foreign Technical collaboration.The forging process is extremely unique and International Patent pending.

Railway Wheel and Axle Machining
The company has extensive facilities for machining of Railway Wheels and axles with more than 17 no's. CNC machines. We produce almost 800 wheels and 1500 axles every month on job work basis with Forgings of Durgapur Steel plant and Metal & Steel factory Ichapur.
